As a practicum site supervisor for UT Arlington’s Social Work Program, I provide hands-on training and mentorship to MSW students in a nonprofit setting focused on refugee women’s mental health and vocational retraining. This year, we are piloting the integration of clinical and mental health components into the practicum experience. One student, in the foundation year, focuses on case management with some clinical exposure, while the advanced clinical student engages in screening, assessment, and group therapy. Together, we are shaping a structured, supportive training environment that bridges direct practice with broader program development.
